Our Testimony Board: Faith In My Trials

Through the trials I have gone through with my skin and health when I was younger, I was really able to get to know, and become close with, my Savior. Countless times I can recall praying to God for relief from my pain. I just remember the immediate relief I felt almost every time I offered a prayer which allowed me to still catch a few hours of sleep those nights.

I can strongly testify that He is there. After awhile of asking for permanent healing from my trials, I realized that maybe I am meant to have these challenges. I didn’t know why, but I quickly changed my prayers from asking for healing, to asking for strength and ability to deal with the circumstances. Through this, I have developed a relationship and a love for my Savior and Father in Heaven, and have been able to spend more time with parents and strengthen relationships there too through all the attention and hospital time I required. I still struggle with my skin and health very much, but not of any comparison to what I used to deal with.

Ever since I was three days old, I have had problems with my skin and health and doctors still, after 14 years have not been able to figure it out. We have tried dozens of different treatments and nothing has ever worked.

I did 3 years of IVIG (Immunoglobulin G through IV) from 2012-2015 to try to help my blood levels stabilize. They were about 10 hour treatments. They have helped a lot with the infections.

Sometimes we feel there is nowhere else to turn. We may try everything possible and nothing seems to be in our favour. We may not be able to fully understand God’s plan for us, but we can have faith to deal with our challenges. When there is nowhere else to go, turn to the Lord. You are not in this alone.
