Inspiring Hymn Arrangers You Should Check Out!

It’s no small talent to be able to arrange music. To hear the melody of a song and then create something additionally beautiful to complement it is a gift. Hymns, in their basic form, are perfect for worship in our Church meetings as congregational singing, but a tasteful arrangement of a hymn, well written and well performed, is a beautiful addition to any meeting as a special musical number. These truly beautiful arrangements also instil testimony, remind us of truth and create a beautiful spirit in our homes. Here are three arrangers I think you should know about.

Amy Hansen, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, creates beautiful arrangements of hymns and has been blessing us with her gift by sharing on social media. On her YouTube channel, she creates simple videos of her playing her own arrangements as well as others singing. She also shares her music on Facebook. Her arrangements, compiled on an album “Fount of Every Blessing” now available on iTunes, would make a lovely addition to your Sunday music!

Garth Smith of Oceanside, California is another arranger you may or may not have heard about. His inspiring renditions of hymns and other music have caught the attention of many people as he has been travelling around and sharing his music and his testimony in firesides. He has 2 albums of beautiful music available on his site and on iTunes, “Sacred Hymns”, “How Beautiful Thy Temples”. These are definitely inspiring and bring such a beautiful spirit!

And of course, this blog post wouldn’t complete without mentioning the incredible talents of Marvin Goldstein. Marvin’s ability to turn anything musical into some sort of genius piano arrangement is something that amazes me! He’s also a great performer. If you’ve witnessed him in concert, you’ll know what I mean. The guy really has some fantastic humour, but also knows how to bring a flood of the spirit with his hymn arrangements. He has piano songbooks of all his work, for those of you who like to play.

I am sure there are more hymn arrangers out there, blessing, serving and inspiring us with their gifts, so if you know of someone you think we should know about, please leave a comment below with a link to their information. Be sure to check out the websites and social media channels of these fantastic talents and purchase their music to help support the good things they are doing!
